Go after what you want, even if it seems silly and out of reach. You’ve only got the one life, so you might as well have a go at living it. People may laugh, others will leave, and there will always be a few to tell you to stop and do something sensible. Then there are the other people, the ones who see that look in your eye when you talk about the things you love to do, and you definitely should listen to them.
Things aren’t always easy, and it can be confusing and backwards at times, but it’s better to just make mistakes and learn from them, than spend your life trying to find a map to do the hard thinking for you. Be true to yourself, surround yourself with people who want to listen and help, and don’t listen to your crap for too long, or you might start believing in it.
Today i’ve been going over an older story, it’s roughly 6000 words in, and deals with faith, Were-hyenas, gods, and garbage-men. It’s silly, actin-packed, and full of eighties themes and testosterone. For me writing is the thing i’ve always wanted to do, but couldn’t find the confidence to try at until last year.
Find your thing and don’t let go, and sooner or later it will happen, maybe not the way you’d expected but that’s all part of the fun. Who want’s to know how it all works out? That would be silly, instead you want to go with your heart, while trying to keep your head, and make a few friends along the way.
